Stick Season

Here in New England, they refer to November as "stick season." It's the in between time after leaf peeper season when the leaves have fallen and before the snow flies-when the trees are, well, sticks. It tends to be a quiet time but also very busy. It usually means we have a few short weeks to finish wrapping up outdoor projects.


As I arrived home one night and pulled up the road, I was reminded how much I really like stick season. It's a time to reflect on how much we accomplished over the summer and fall. That night I laughed at the two bonfires being tended to at the same time and filling the air with one of my favorite smells in the world. Campfires remind of memories being made...


In life, it's the in between times that can cause the most anxiety but also be rewarding. It's the moment to look ahead at what your future holds but also reflect-on your accomplishments and lessons learned. Most of all, the stick season in life is your time to breathe.
